Since we started shipping last month, thousands of HomePass networks went live across the United States. And we’ve seen that it’s hard, naturally, for many of us to avoid the temptation to want to run around our homes and test out the network immediately after setting-up HomePass. That’s sort of like speed-dating which would miss the point.
Here’s what to expect:
- After onboarding your SuperPods, HomePass takes some initial measurements from the environment to kick-off pre-optimization through the cloud. This phase can take up to about half an hour. After this you’ll have great coverage and good WiFi capacity around the home so feel free to connect as many devices as you wish, start streaming 4K content — we’ve got you covered. But this is just the first hand-hold, if you will.
- HomePass will then perform a substantial optimization within the first 24 hours, this is when the relationship really begins. Over the upcoming weeks, HomePass will tune and optimize even further. HomePass will allocate more WiFi capacity to those rooms and devices that need it the most — for example, where your video streaming TVs are.
- In about a month or two, depending on how many devices are on the network and the level of activity, HomePass will start predictive and pre-emptive optimization. Now you can expect the most resilient, reliable, and consistent WiFi experience in every nook and cranny of your home, for all of your devices, all of the time. You and HomePass are going steady.
